Milestones, a native project management app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision, has added support for connecting Claude and other AI agents on Mac through a built-in MCP server, according to its App Store release notes.
The app, billed as a private project management tool, is built around a three-level structure: Projects, Milestones, and Tasks. The developer says that setup is meant to make larger goals easier to manage by breaking them into phases and then into individual tasks.
This is news because the app now lets AI agents connect to a project manager through MCP, which is a standard way for software tools to share context with AI systems. For non-experts, that means an assistant like Claude can be plugged into a structured app instead of working from scattered notes or plain chat history. The update also matters because it includes sync and stability fixes, which affect whether your work data stays accurate across devices.
If you build self-hosted agents, test the new MCP server pattern as a bridge between your agent and a structured task system instead of exposing your whole app database. The latest version, 1.8.0, adds the ability to connect Claude and other AI agents to Milestones on Mac with the new built-in MCP server. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, a standard that lets AI tools connect to external apps and data sources in a structured way.
The release also includes several interface changes. The app now highlights the task you are editing so you do not lose your place, and Mac and iPad now restore the last selected project and milestone on launch. The composer design was also refined across the app.
Milestones said it fixed a CloudKit sync issue that could discard recent edits, along with an app hang that could happen after large iCloud syncs. Other fixes address Mac task rows freezing when the composer had focus, broken File menu commands and shortcuts for creating new projects or milestones, and selection isolation across tabs.
The update also makes the paywall close button tappable immediately, improves layout proportions on iPad, and includes stability and correctness fixes for milestone activation, reordering, and Pro entitlement handling. The developer said Pro status will no longer drop after a temporary network glitch.
The app uses iCloud for sync across devices and is available on Apple platforms with a privacy-focused pitch. Its App Store page says data collected may include purchases, identifiers, usage data, and diagnostics, but that data is not linked to the user’s identity.
Milestones is currently listed in the Productivity category and requires iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 15, or visionOS 1.0 depending on the device.
